“Into The Wild”

I hope that all is well and you are all finding a way to enjoy each and every precious moment of your gift of life on this cold winter’s night!

I returned to Cospa Fitness center this evening. My original plan was to workout in the early afternoon however that did not seem to work out! I kept thinking about going to the gym throughout the day without much progress. Moving around for me is very challenging especially at this time of year when the weather grows colder. Instead going to the gym I kept thinking about it.

After sleeping on and off for most of the day due to jetlag I found inspiration in the most unlikely of places, the television. I somehow managed to stay conscious long enough to watch most of this movie called, “Into the Wild” (2007). The movie was adapted from a book (1996) developed from a diary about the adventures of Christopher McCandless, his two-year journey of self-discovery after graduating from college and his eventual death at an early age in the wilderness of Alaska.

I was inspired by his true story, the quotes from some of the writers that influenced him like Henry David Thoreau, Leo Tolstoy, and Jack London and quotes by Christopher McCandless himself. For example:

“I’m going to paraphrase Thoreau here… rather than love, than money, than faith, than fame, than fairness… give me truth.” Christopher McCandless

“I will miss you too, but you are wrong if you think that the joy of life comes principally from the joy of human relationships. God’s place is all around us, it is in everything and in anything we can experience. People just need to change the way they look at things.” Christopher McCandless

“When you want something in life, you just gotta reach out and grab it.”

Christopher McCandless

About 10:15pm I changed my clothes (I was still wearing my pajamas), prepared my energy drink (Gatorade and vitamin C) slipped on my new athletic shoes, opened the door and began my seven minute personal journey "into the wild" (on this cold winter’s night) one step at a time.

That’s all for now! Please take care, stay positive and remember to enjoy each and every precious moment of your gift of life this winter and every season of the year!
